HIQA, as part of its mandate, is responsible for evaluating the quality of the information available on health and social care and making recommendations in relation to improving its quality and filling in gaps where information is needed but is not currently available. As part of this remit, we have commenced a National Engagement on Digital Health and Social Care.

Please see attached a short (2 page) flyer explaining the project including:

  • aims of the project
  • what the project involves
  • your contribution to the project
  • our assurances to you
  • expected outputs of the project.

Overall, the aims and objectives of the project are to engage with the public and health and social care professionals through surveys and focus groups in relation to the digitisation of health and social care services. It is expected that the surveys and focus groups will be carried out in the early part of 2023. One challenge we have identified is recruiting a representative sample of opticians and optometrists as they work in many different settings across public and private services. This is a challenge we need to overcome in order to properly represent their views and needs in the research findings.

Our ask of you at this early stage is if your organisation can help HIQA in communicating and promoting the national engagement among your registrants and also with recruitment to focus groups.

If this is not the kind of work your organisation can do, I’d appreciate it if you could let me know.

If you would like to discuss any aspect of the National Engagement on Digital Health and Social Care, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Thank you.

Kind regards,

Marie
