Role of Optometry Ireland
- Represent members interests by monitoring developments in the profession and planning, advising and responding as appropriate
 - Represent the voice of the profession to third parties – Government, industry, public, other professions etc.
 - Represent the profession at international level by participation in ECOO (European Council of Optometry & Optics), WCO (World Council of Optometry) and the Six Nations amongst others
 - Negotiate on behalf of the profession to maximise its contribution to public healthcare
 - Conduct research and planning future activities to keep the profession at the front of international best practice
 - Encourage high standards of service in the profession
 - Provide and facilitate Continuing Professional Development
 - Provide other member services including news and information updates, webinars, and lectures via the website
 - Raising public awareness of good eye-health and best model of service.
