The Optometric Advisor will be an Optometrist who has an interest in the development of the profession of Optometry in Ireland. The role will be a support to members, so that the profession can continue to be an integral part of the health service as it evolves by working to the full scope of Optometry education, training and regulation. With an understanding of the scope of practice of the profession and the challenges facing it into the future, the Optometric Advisor will require a knowledge of the regulatory landscape that applies to the practice of Optometry, including CORU requirements, especially in relation to the Code of Conduct and Ethics for Optometrists and Fitness to Practice processes.
The advisor will be in a position to support the Executive Director and operational colleagues where clinical and contextual input is required to help best serve the needs of members. The advisor will play a key role in expanding services offered by the organisation such as research support, exam delivery, increased CPD offerings or quality improvement projects.
